There seems to be a fault on the board that will not allow many users to login properly and I have found something very easy to try. If you keep trying to login and can not get it to work try this small trick.... right click on one of the fourm titles ( I.E. collecting, problems and questions, buy/sell/trade etc.) and then click "OPEN IN NEW WINDOW" and try logging in at the top of that page. You can also try this link which should bring you right to the collecting fourm with no side banners...

http://www.oozinggoo.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?b-gb/

I have yet to see it not work. Give it a try and start posting !!

  LampHead

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DELETING SPAM

Be careful when deleting the spam postings. Many of them are attatched to legitimate threads. I keep seeing more and more threads disappearing. The science lab is now back to January 15 as the most recent post. It is probably better to delete the spam post by post so that threads don't disappear altogether. There is less need to rush in deleting them now that the membership settings have been adjusted so that future spam postings will be cut down dramatically. Take our time and they will be gone soon enough. We don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water as the expression goes.

Also, the entire site should be backed up regularly. This could be done with online methods or rewritable dvds.

SCOTT13A

I have finally given up deleting the spam posts, I cant keep up with them. They never really actually bothered me as I just ignored them, but they have become a major problem on this site. One thing that bothers me more is the fact of how much we all hate them yet some of them have been viewed more then several times meaning someone on this site is looking at them. The thing I hated most is when members posted on these spam posts....I feared it would lead to worse things.

This site needs to be revamped and locked, the spam posts have destroyed the site to the point its became very unusable, im not going to scroll through a page of spam to find the last "real" post by someone either looking to learn or someone teaching us all something. Its a very sad turn for what was the BEST lava lamp site ever. I find myself visiting less and less each week and see fewer posts by the old regulars. Mark please fix this site or let Jimmy or myself become "full" mods with privlages to change this site to be more secure. Jimmy seems to have a full understanding of what needs to be done and seems able to do it, I can figure any computer related issues out. For the time being im still here but on a limited basis.

   LampHead
